Obituary of Arthur J. Harrington, Jr.




Caledonia - Mr. Arthur J. Harrington, Jr., age 66, of Caledonia, longtime proprietor at Harrington's in Elba, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Strong Memorial Hospital.



He was born April 1, 1952, in Rochester, a son of the late Arthur J. Harrington, Sr. and the late Susanne Macy Harrison.



An avid lover of nature and birds, Art was very active in his family genealogy. He loved music and was a fan of Simon and Garfunkel. He enjoyed working with his hands and his greatest passions were farming and working in the family greenhouses.



Survivors include his wife, Diane Meritt Harrington, whom he married December 23, 1972; his children; Aaron (Danielle) Harrington of Elba, Andrew (Christy) Harrington of Oakfield, Adam (Alexandra) Harrington of Elba and  Rebecca (Adam) Gaylord of Byron; five grandchildren; Jules Hoepting, Morgan and Madison Harrington and Hunter and Sawyer Gaylord; his siblings; Barbara (Ben) Wilkins of Nunda, Mark (Tammy Watson) Harrington of Dansville and Lori (Tim) Houser of Caledonia; his mother-in-law, Helen Meritt of Caledonia; his brother-in-law, Wayne (Deborah) Meritt of Scottsville and several nieces and nephews.


Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. on Friday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. His Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Batavia, 300 East Main Street, Batavia. He will be laid to rest in Maplelawn Cemetery, Elba. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Art's memory may be made to Morgan-Manning House, 151 Main Street, Brockport, New York 14420.
