Batavia - Mr. Thomas A. Kabel, 66, of Batavia, passed away on February 25, 2014 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Kabel was born August 12, 1947 in Batavia, a son of the late Frederick and Marie Marks Kabel.



A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mr. Kabel worked side by side with his brothers in the construction business for many years and was a union carpenter.



He enjoyed watching Western movies, especially those starring John Wayne, listening to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash music and taking Sunday drives with his daughters. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family.



His wife, Carol M. Brenkus Kabel, passed away on May 10, 2004.



He is survived by his daughters, Tersa Kabel of Batavia and Kelly Kabel of Webster and her daughter, Isabella Urtel; three brothers: Richard Kabel of Batavia, John (Carol) Kabel of North Carolina and Tim (Becky) Kabel of Oakfield; five sisters, Gwen Williams of Batavia, Sharon (Donald) Kilby of Jamestown, Nancy (Kenny) Lewis of Batavia, Sandra (Raymond) Mickey of Webster and Judy (Rich) Clark of Batavia; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.



He is the grandfather of the late Michael, Jr., and brother of the late Elaine Hoffman, Mary Jane Metcalfe, Shirley Dunlap, Robert and James Kabel.



Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Washington Ave., Batavia. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Kabel family.
