Russell E. Polito

Batavia - Mr. Russell E. Polito, 98, of Batavia, a retired salesman for Prudential Insurance, died Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Polito was born August 10, 1909 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Anthony and Rose Valvo Polito.

A resident of the area since 1934, he was a member of St. Joseph's Church and its Holy Name Society and St. Nicholas Club.  Mr. Polito was a 1931 graduate of Fredonia State College.  

His wife, Publia (Biasuzzi) Polito died October 28, 2007.

Survivors include a son, Ronald (Margaret) Polito of Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Carol (Stephen) Hertel of Batavia and Linda (Anthony) Carnevale of Auburn.  Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.   

He was the brother of the late Phyllis Buchwald.

Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00a.m. to 10:30a.m. at the H. E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St. Batavia.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11:00a.m. at  Resurrection Parish,  St. Joseph's Church, 303 E. Main St.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity whose mission is helping children. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia.
