Batavia - Fr. Donald W. Kirkwood, 72, of Batavia, a caseworker at Genesee County Office For The Aging until his retirement in 1998, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Fr. Kirkwood was born June 29, 1938 in Buffalo, a son of the late John and Jesse (Elliott) Kirkwood.

He graduated with his Masters in Divinity, was the present Vicker at Trinity Episcopal Church in Warsaw, former Assistant Rector from 1980 to 1983 and present member of St. James Episcopal Church in Batavia.  He was active in the Western New York Episcopal Curillo and Genesee County Diocesan Deanery.  He enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors include his life partner, Walter M. Buck of Batavia; 4 children, John Kirkwood of Pavilion, Jennifer Kirkwood of New York City, Jason (Jennifer) Buck of VA and Janice (Christopher) Hare of NC; a brother, Howard (Judy) Kirkwood of North Tonawanda; 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

He was the brother of the late Robert. James, Miriam and Jane Kirkwood.  

Friends may attend services at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at St. James Episcopal Church.  Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 62 W. Buffalo St., Warsaw, NY 14569 or to St. James Episcopal Church, 405 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020.  Entombment will be in St. James Church Columbarium. Arrangements were completed by H.E. Turner & Co., Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.
